Vol. 340 No. 4

Written Answers. - FEOGA Grant Applications.

304.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will give details of applications at present with FEOGA for grant assistance; and the amounts paid in such grants for specific projects in 1982.

305.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the number of applications for the purchase or construction of new fishing vessels and for the modernisation and conversion of existing vessels which have been submitted for FEOGA assistance in 1983; and the allocations made in 1982.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 304 and 305 together. There are 115 applications for FEOGA aid for consideration under Council Regulation (EEC) No. 31/83. This comprises 29 new applications and 86 projects which failed to receive aid under the previous FEOGA grant scheme and are eligible for consideration under this regulation. The amount paid from FEOGA during 1982 was £2,513,769. This was in respect of successful applications for grant-aid in the period 1978-81.

The number of applications for fishing vessels under Regulation 31/83 is 110. Of these 104 relate to the purchase or construction of new fishing vessels and six relate to modernisation and conversion of existing vessels. The allocation in 1982 under the 1981 FEOGA grant scheme was £3,025,215 in respect of 38 projects. Of these projects, 30 related to purchase or construction of new vessels, three related to modernisation of existing vessels and five related to aquaculture projects.
