322.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath as he is a registered subcontractor and finds it most difficult to continue in business without a telephone service.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work can be completed before the latter part of this year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone kiosk will be provided outside the post office at Lackaroe, Youghal, County Waterford, as the only public telephone in the area is inside the post office and is not available when the office closes at 6.00 p.m.

The provision of a telephone kiosk at Lackaroe is not considered warranted at present and it is not therefore proposed to provide one there.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the special circumstances, he will provide a telephone service immediately to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

It has not been possible to trace an application on behalf of the person named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information, e.g., when and where the application was made further efforts will be made to trace it.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5.

Service will be restored within a week or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he has any plans to provide an additional public telephone kiosk at Glengarriff, County Cork.

It is planned to provide an additional kiosk in Glengarriff, County Cork. The kiosk will be provided as soon as the volume of engineering work in the area allows.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the public telephone kiosk which was sanctioned for Youngfield, Glengarriff, Bantry, County Cork, will be provided.

Delay in the provision of the kiosk at Youngfield has been due to a shortage of certain equipment. The kiosk will be provided as soon as equipment becomes available.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored for a person (details supplied) in Dublin as it has been out of order for six months.

Service will be restored within a week or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be transferred for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone service will be transferred as a matter of urgency from a house which is about to be demolished to a new house for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

Terms have been quoted to the person named and service will be provided at the new address as soon as possible after the necessary agreement has been signed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone kiosk will be provided for the residents of Marian Terrace, Hacketstown, County Carlow.

The provision of an additional kiosk at Hacketstown, County Carlow, is not regarded as warranted at present and it is not proposed, therefore, to provide one there.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin as she has been waiting for two years.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will examine the case of a person (details supplied) in County Dublin as he is a telephone subscriber who claims he is being mistreated by his Department.

Full service to the person concerned was withdrawn because of non-payment of an account. The account has now been settled and service has been fully restored.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6, as it has been out of order since July 1982 and was reported numerous times to his Department to no effect.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the long delay in providing a telephone service for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin having regard to the fact that he was offered service in September 1982 and paid the advance money at the request of his Department; and if service will now be provided as a matter of urgency.

When the person named was invited to sign an agreement and make advance payment it was expected that telephone service would be provided for him within about three months.

Regrettably this was not possible because of unforeseen difficulty regarding the cable pair allocated to serve the address. It is expected that service will be provided within about a month.

340.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if a telephone service will be restored immediately for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin; and if he will grant a rental rebate for the period it was out of order.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 340 and 341 together. The delay in clearing this fault was due to difficulty in getting access to the premises. A card was left at the subscriber's premises requesting him to make an appointment with the repair staff to clear the fault.

It is expected to restore service shortly and a rebate will be granted for the period the subscriber was without service.

342.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a person (details supplied) in County Limerick is being asked to pay a full connection fee in respect of the reconnection of his telephone.

New line terms including a full connection fee have been quoted to the person named because the linework which formerly served the premises is no longer available to do so. The linework was recovered and used for other purposes following cessation of service at the address.

343.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a public telephone service will be restored to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

It is expected that service will be restored to the kiosk within the next few days.

344.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange to have a telephone service provided for a person (details supplied) in County Offaly as he needs it urgently for business purposes.

It is expected that service will be provided within about three months.
