asked the Minister for Education the amount of money spent on research equipment in third level educational institutions during 1982, for which finance had been provided by way of grants from the State; and the amounts of money which reverted to the Exchequer as a result of VAT on the items purchased.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 499 and 500 together. The information requested is not available to my Department. Expenditure on such equipment may be made at their discretion by education authorities concerned from general grants and information in relation to the purchases made is not furnished to my Department.
I am not supplied with particulars of VAT revenue on such items as may be purchased.
