asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when automatic telephone service will be provided for Athenry, Craughwell and Monivea exchanges in County Galway.

: It is expected that automatic telephone service will be provided for Athenry and Craughwell in the fourth quarter of this year and for Monivea in the second half of next year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 who requires it for business purposes.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 16, whose £230 connection fee cheque was paid and cashed by his Department last month.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the date a person (details supplied) in County Dublin applied for a telephone service; the reason for the delay in providing it; and when it will be provided.

: It has not been possible to provide service so far for the person named, who applied on 17 August 1982, because of the large volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the Dublin area. It is expected that service will be provided within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a telephone service has not been provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin who applied three years ago even though people who applied at the same time and who were in the same estate were provided with service three years ago; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: It has not been possible to provide telephone service for the person named and some other applicants in the estate referred to pending completion of necessary cabling work.

I am advised that a cabling scheme was carried out to serve the major part of this estate and that service has been provided for many applicants there. It was not possible to cable the entire estate at the same time because building development within the estate did not permit.

It is expected that service will be provided for the person named during the second half of this year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 16 as he applied over five years ago, is in ill health and requires a telephone as a matter of urgency; and the reason service has not been provided to date.

: It has not been possible to provide service for the person named so far because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the 01 area. Service will be provided as soon as possible, but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work will be completed before the latter part of this year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the following telephone exchanges in County Meath will become automatic: (a) Enfield; (b) Longwood; (c) Rathmoylon; (d) Summerhill; (e) Ballivor; and (f) others in this region.

: It is expected that Enfield exchange will become automatic in about two months. The remaining manual exchanges in County Meath which will be served by the trunk switching exchange at Enfield are Ballivor, Castlejordan, Castlelrickard, Hill-of-Down, Longwood, Rathmoylon and Summerhill and these will become automatic in the second half of this year.

: The kiosk at Nunnery Lane was restored to service on 18 March 1983.

: The provision of a telephone kiosk at Piercestown is not regarded as warranted at present and it is not proposed therefore to provide one there.

: It is planned to provide a telephone kiosk at the lower area of Old Galway Road, Loughrea, to serve the general area including Fahy Gardens and Coscorrig. The kiosk will be provided as soon as possible after the necessary consents to a suitable site are obtained.

: It is regretted that the person named was not recorded for free telephone rental because of a clerical error. The matter is having attention.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when extra telephone lines will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin as they will have to lay off staff due to the loss of business if the extra lines are not provided shortly.

: Additional lines will be provided at the address quoted as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work can be completed before the latter part of this year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 5, who paid the installation charges on 29 October 1982.

: When the person named was invited to sign an agreement and make advance payment it was expected that telephone service would be provided for him within about three months.

Regrettably this was not possible because of an unforeseen difficulty. It is expected that service will be provided within about a month.

: Raheen is not included in the current programme. It will be considered for inclusion in a future programme.

: A survey is being carried out to ascertain when it will be possible to provide telephone service for the person named. The applicant will be contacted as soon as the survey is completed.
