Vol. 341 No. 3

Written Answers . - Fermoy Former Garda Station .

614.

asked the Minister for Finance the proposals he has for the old Garda station in Fermoy, County Cork as it is fast becoming a derelict building; and if he will expedite the preservation plans for it.

: Sketch plans for the erection of a new post office on the site of the former Garda station at Fermoy are under consideration by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs. The scheme provides for the demolition of the old Garda station. The Commissioners of Public Works have been advised that the building, which is not structurally sound, could not be adapted to meet the Department's requirements. It is the intention that the archway and wall of the old monastery adjoining the building will be preserved.
