asked the Minister for the Environment the number of foreign visits undertaken by him or his Minister of State since 14 December 1982; the purpose of each trip; the destination and duration of each visit; whether the visit was by official Government transport; the number of officials who accompanied him in each case; and the total cost, including accommodation and travel, of each trip.

: I made one foreign visit since 14 December 1982 as representative of the Government at the St. Patrick's Day celebrations in London from 16 March to 18 March 1983. The visit was by official Government transport. I was not accompanied by any officials from my Department. The total cost of the visit was £816.90.

The Minister of State attached to my Department also made one foreign visit to a meeting of the Council for the Environment Ministers in Brussels from 27 February to 1 March 1983. The visit was not made by official transport. He was accompanied by one official from my Department. The total cost of the visit was £954.07.
