asked the Minister for the Environment when a mortgage interest subsidy grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

: On the basis of information submitted by the applicant that the mortgage deed was executed in March 1982, a provisional approval to the mortgage subsidy issued to him. However, it has now been established that the mortgage deed was in fact executed on 18 November 1980, and, consequently, this applicant does not qualify for the subsidy which is payable only in respect of mortgages where the deeds were executed on or after 10 April 1981. He has been so informed.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant and a first payment of a mortgage subsidy will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath.

: The applicant in this case applied for a grant and subsidy at a time when the subsidy was confined to married persons or persons intending to marry within one year of execution of the mortgage deed who had submitted an application in joint names. As the applicant was a single person, his application for the subsidy was rejected. On notification from his solicitor that he was in fact engaged to be married, a fresh application form for completion in joint names was issued in January 1982. To date it has not been returned to my Department. Further information in connection with the grant application requested on 21 October 1981 has also not yet been received and consequently no further action can be taken in the matter.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 grant and a mortgage subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

: A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed, and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. An inspection will be carried out as soon as possible. Payment of the mortgage subsidy cannot commence until the grant has been paid.
