Vol. 341 No. 9

Written Answers . - Kerry Water Scheme .

663.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will sanction the documents in his Department for the Castlemaine regional water supply scheme, County Kerry, with a reservoir at Ballygamboon, Castlemaine so that the Kiltallaght and Ballyfinnane group water schemes can proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: Contract documents for this scheme are under consideration in my Department. The proposals must be considered in the context of the overall capital provision for sanitary services and the number of fully approved schemes in progress or getting to construction for which adequate finance must be provided including the following schemes in County Kerry: Listowel Regional Water Supply, Stage 1; North East Kerry Regional Water Supply Scheme, Stage 2, Phase 2, and Central Regional Water Supply Scheme, Contracts 3 and 4.

I am fully aware of the importance of the Castlemaine Regional Water Supply Scheme. However, I am not in a position at present, to indicate when the relevant contract documents may be approved.
