asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will grant an extension of service to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick who has been a temporary postman for the past 30 years in view of the fact that he will not be entitled to a pension until he reaches 66 years of age.

: The person concerned will, on retirement, be eligible for a gratuity from the Department of Posts and Telegraphs and a retirement pension from the Department of Social Welfare and on reaching age 66 he will be paid the old age contributory pension. He does not qualify for retention in the civil service on grounds of hardship.
