Vol. 341 No. 9

Written Answers . - Grant Payment .

879.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when an application for a grant under the western drainage and land reclamation schemes will be examined in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kerry with a view to issuing a certificate of approval at an early date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

: This application under the Western Drainage Scheme was received on 27 October 1981. Applications under the scheme are being processed strictly in order of receipt. Present indications are that sufficient applications have been received up to 30 September 1981 to absorb the 150,000 hectares approved by the EEC which meets 50 per cent of the cost of the scheme. It was decided early last year to defer processing of applications received after that date to enable the situation to be reviewed.

There is no record of an application for a land improvement grant under the Programme for Western Development.
