Vol. 342 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arterial Drainage Schemes.

23.

andMr. Daly asked the Minister for Finance the amount of EEC grants that will be lost through the deferral of arterial drainage schemes this year.

Funds are being provided this year to enable all the arterial drainage schemes which are currently in progress to continue; the question of deferral of schemes or loss of EEC moneys does not arise.

There will be a certain amount of EEC funds lost due to the fact that the survey of the River Shannon has not started this year.

That was dealt with in another question. That money will not be lost. It will be availed of at a later date I am sure.

I am sure the EEC will not allow that grant to stand for a number of years. I would ask the Minister of State to have the survey of the River Shannon started in case we lose the grant.

I cannot give an undertaking on that.
