The work of the Department encompasses a range of programmes which are the subject of forward planning. The planning, including the time span, takes account of the circumstances of the particular programmes and of the financial and budgetary circumstances. The various programmes are kept under regular review, and account will be taken of the desirability of applying extended time spans to programmes, where this is possible, in the context of economic and social planning.
