asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an application for a refund of tax suffered under PAYE on the grounds of unemployment was submitted by the taxpayer to the inspector of taxes on 1 December 1982. A cheque in settlement to 31 December 1982 (week 39), issued to the taxpayer on 26 January 1983. The Commissioners' inquiries have disclosed that this cheque has not yet been presented for payment. If it is the position that the cheque was not, in fact, received by the taxpayer, contact should be made with the Collector-General, Hatch Street, Dublin 2, so that the necessary arrangements can be made to issue a duplicate.

The inspector wrote to the taxpayer on 25 April for the information necessary to review the income tax position for the year ended 5 April 1983. On receipt of the required information the inspector will review the position and any further refund found due will be made.
