865.

866.

asked the Minister for Education the amount of money she has refunded in respect of school bus transport charges to holders of medical cards.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 864, 865 and 866 together.

A sum of about £1,000,000 was collected in school transport charges in respect of the January to Easter term 1983. Information regarding the total amount collected for the present term is not yet available. About £150,000 of the money collected has or is being refunded in respect of junior cycle pupils who benefited from the extension of the medical card concession. My Department has no information regarding the medical card status of parents of pupils who attend schools outside their own catchment areas.
