asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider reducing the rental being charged for a telephone to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

Telephone rentals are assessed in accordance with standard charges. It would not be practicable to make an exception in an individual case.

It has not been possible to provide service so far for the person named because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the 01 area.

It is expected that service will be provided within about a month.

It had been expected that service would be provided earlier — however, this was not possible due to an unforeseen difficulty at the local exchange.
