asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone kiosk will be provided beside Oristown School, County Meath, for the benefit of the residents in the area who have no telephones.

It is proposed to provide a telephone kiosk at Finestown to serve the general area including Oristown.

It is not included in this year's programme, but will be considered for inclusion in a future programme.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the proposed automation at Carrick-on-Shannon exchange, County Leitrim, will take place.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the proposals he has to deal with staff affected by automation at Carrick-on-Shannon exchange, County Leitrim.

Full-time staff who become surplus to local requirements will be given the option of transferring to another exchange or of resigning. Those who transfer will be paid a resettlement allowance and those who opt to resign will be paid compensation.

Part-time staff are recruited locally for specific exchanges. It may be possible to offer employment at another exchange to a small number who have been working long hours. Other night staff will have to be let go but they will be paid compensation.
