Vol. 342 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mullingar Hospital.

12.

asked the Minister for Health when he proposes to proceed with the new extension to Mullingar Hospital, County Westmeath.

Working drawings for the developments at Mullingar General Hospital are currently being examined by my Department. The earliest possible date by which construction could commence is June 1984.

The entire health capital medium term programme is at present being reviewed in the context particularly of the revenue implications of the projects included in it. Pending the outcome of this review it is not possible to say when I can give sanction for the development to proceed. However, I have already indicated that I regard this project as a priority and have stated my intention to proceed with it as soon as possible. This is still my intention but I must await the outcome of the review before making a definite commitment.
