I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer ceased employment on 3 April 1982. As all the tax-free allowances due for the year 1981-82 had been allowed under the PAYE scheme no overpayment of tax arose. The taxpayer was advised of the position by the inspector of taxes on 20 July 1982. There is no information available to the inspector which suggests that the taxpayer is entitled to a tax refund for any other year.
