Vol. 342 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

599.

asked the Minister for the Environment when an inspection will be arranged and approval issued to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in respect of a new house grant.

Approval to a new house grant and mortgage subsidy has been issued in this case. A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and occupied and that all the conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. The inspector called recently but could not gain admittance to the house. The applicant has been notified accordingly and requested to indicate a date on which the house will be open for inspection.

The grant was paid on 6 May 1983.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt, from the person named, of an application for a new house grant in respect of the address given. However, an application from this person in respect of a different house has been referred for inspection with a view to payment of the grant.

602.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the balance of a reconstruction and home improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

An instalment of £100 of the maximum house improvement grant of £200 approved in this case was paid to the applicant in June 1978.

Under the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1979, the latest date for the receipt of a claim for payment of the balance of the grant was 31 January 1980. As no such claim was received in the Department before the closing date, the balance cannot be paid.

603.

(Limerick West) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a new house grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

A grant cannot be paid until an inspection establishes that the house is satisfactorily completed and occupied and complies with all other conditions of the grant scheme. The file in this case has been referred to my Department's inspector for investigation and report with a view to payment of the grant.
