Vol. 342 No. 11

Written Answers. - Point of Importation VAT Scheme.

543.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the total inadequacy of facilities for the operation of the VAT at point of entry system at the North Wall; and if he will make immediate arrangements to have sufficient telephones, explanatory leaflets, necessary documentation and expanded payment facilities made available at the earliest possible time.

I am advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the facilities at the North Wall for the operation of the scheme for payment of VAT at the point of importation are regarded as adequate. Customs leaflets and documentation are freely available at the Custom House and I am also advised that telephones and existing payment facilities are sufficient to meet requirements.
