Vol. 343 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) Fire Service.

568.

asked the Minister for the Environment if given the extensive area being serviced by Tallaght fire station, County Dublin, he will provide an additional fire engine to Tallaght fire brigade station.

The purchase and location of fire appliances to provide fire cover for a particular area is entirely a matter for the fire authority concerned. I have had no proposal from Dublin Corporation for approval to borrowing for the purpose of acquiring a further fire appliance for the Tallaght fire station.

I understand from the corporation, however, that the area covered by the Tallaght fire station will be reduced when the new fire station at Rathfarnham comes into operation later this year.
