Vol. 343 No. 1

Written Answers. - Death Grant.

755.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the progress that has been made in the claim for an outstanding cheque in relation to a death grant due to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9; and if the report following a Garda investigation has now been received by his Department.

A claim for a grant on the death of her husband was received from the person concerned on 6 January 1982. A grant of £75.00 was payable and a cheque for that amount was issued on 21 January 1982.

She stated that she did not receive this cheque. Inquiries which were made by the Department failed to establish who cashed the cheque. The matter has been referred to the Gardaí for investigation but their report has not yet been received. On receipt of the report the claim will be reviewed.
