Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commission for Social Welfare.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when he intends to set up the Commission for social welfare.

I have put proposals in this matter to the Government and I hope to be in a position to set up the commission shortly.

Could the Minister tell us something about the terms of reference of this commission?

As these proposals are before the Government at present I am not in a position to give that information.

What does shortly mean?

In a matter of weeks.

Would the Minister agree that because of the budgetary strategy of the Government there has been a significant decrease in the amount——

That has nothing to do with the question on the Order Paper. It is a totally different question.

May I ask a simple question? Surely a question concerning social welfare has relevance to this question.

The Chair has ruled the Deputy out of order and the Deputy should not argue with the Chair.

The Deputy does not wish to argue with the Chair.

The Chair has ruled the Deputy's question out of order and the Deputy should accept that.
