On 31 March 1983 there were 1,108 applications under the Western Drainage Scheme in County Galway awaiting approval. The average time taken from the date of receipt of an application until a scheme of work is approved is about two years. The applications at present being investigated are those received in the quarters ended 31 March 1981, 30 June 1981 and 30 September 1981. Priority is being given to applications received in the quarter ended 31 March 1981.
