Written Answers. - Tax Rebates.

729.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath is still on emergency tax; the rebate due in this instance; and when it will be paid.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes was not notified of the existence of the taxpayer's employment until 22 April 1983. Reviews of the liability for the years 1981-82 and 1982-83 have been made by the inspector and the tax overdeducted was refunded on 10 June 1983.

730.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; and the amount due.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that an application for a refund of tax suffered under PAYE on the grounds of unemployment was submitted by the taxpayer to the inspector of taxes in January 1983. Additional information requested by the inspector to process the claim has not yet been supplied. The inspector will be writing again to the taxpayer for the required details.
