Vol. 343 No. 11

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Lamb and Sheep Carcase Exports.

11.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of 1982 the number of lamb and sheep carcases exported; the countries they were exported to; the value of these exports; and the amounts received from each country.

(Dún Laoghaire): The value of carcases and half carcases exported in 1982 was £37 million. Carcases are recorded by weight but not by number. I propose to circulate a statement showing the details of tonnages and countries of destination.

Following is the statement:

Exports of carcases and half carcases of sheep and goats in 1982.

The relevant heading in the trade statistics covers both carcases and half carcases of sheep and goats. Exports of goat carcases are understood to be nil or negligible.

Could the Minister inform me if there has been any increase in exports from 1981 to 1982?

That is a separate question.

(Dún Laoghaire): I do not have that information.
