Vol. 343 No. 11

Written Answers. - Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.

642.

asked the Minister for Defence the number of families living in Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin; if most of the dwellings there do not have proper bathing or toilet facilities; and the present position in relation to improving the standard of accommodation for families.

There are 74 occupied soldiers' married quarters at the barracks, twelve of which are newly-built dwellings with modern amenities. The other quarters are very old. Each of them, however, has a toilet and the occupants have the use of a bathhouse containing baths and showers.

The planning of further new married quarters at the barracks is proceeding and the question of arranging for building will be pursued when financial resources allow. In the meantime, essential repairs to the old quarters will continue to be carried out.
