Vol. 344 No. 5

Written Answer. - Telephone Service.

625.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone kiosk will be erected at a location (details supplied) in County Meath as the people in the area have been waiting for this service for the past seven years.

It had been planned to provide a kiosk at Ballinacree. However, the programme for the provision of rural kiosks is under review at present in the light of the financial position generally and it is not possible at this stage to say when a kiosk may be provided at the location in question.

626.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a proper telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will grant a rental rebate to a person (details supplied) in County Dublin as his telephone has been out of order for several months.

The telephone in question is not out of order. Service had, regrettably, to be withdrawn for non-payment of accounts and a rebate is not warranted.

628.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

Telephone service will be provided for the person named as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work can be completed before the end of this year.

629.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 as a telephone was installed in May last but he has not yet received service.

I understand fully the frustration felt at the delay in providing telephones. However, it is expected that telephone service will be provided for the person named within about one month.

630.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will erect a telephone kiosk at Cashelnagore, Gortahork, County Donegal.

The kiosk at Cashelnagore has been erected. It will be brought into service as soon as possible after the necessary linework to the kiosk has been completed within the next month or so.

631.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin as she is an old age pensioner living alone.

Telephone service will be provided as soon as possible for the person named but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work can be completed before the end of this year.
