There is no proposal to build a new Garda station at Mullingar. The Commissioners of Public Works, however, at the request of the Minister for Justice, intend to undertake a scheme of modernisation in respect of the existing Garda station. The scheme envisages an extension to the existing premises and it may be necessary accordingly to acquire some additional ground. The possibility of getting portion of an adjoining property is being examined.
