Vol. 344 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Galway Water Scheme.

697.

asked the Minister for the Environment the up-todate position regarding a regional water scheme (details supplied) in County Galway.

Contract documents for the scheme have been submitted to my Department by Galway County Council and are under consideration. The local authority's proposals must, however, be considered in the context of the large number of fully approved schemes in progress or getting to construction for which adequate finance must be provided, including the following schemes in County Galway:—

Galway County Council: Inishmore Water Supply Improvement Scheme; Galway City West and Environs Water Supply Scheme; Killimor Sewerage Scheme; Athenry Sewerage Scheme.

Galway Corporation: Galway City West Water Supply Scheme (Contract No. 3).

Ballinasloe UCD: Ballinasloe Water Supply Improvement Scheme.

In the circumstances, I cannot say when I will be in a position to convey a decision on the contract documents for the scheme referred to by the Deputy.
