Vol. 344 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Programme for Western Development.

13.

Mr. Leonard

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the small number of approvals to date under the scheme for the orientation of agricultural production (Programme for Western Development), he proposes to have the scheme reviewed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The scheme for the orientation of agricultural production, which was delayed for a considerable period by industrial action, became fully operational only in January 1983 and there has been a steady response from farmers to it. In view of the short time the scheme has been in operation it would not be appropriate to review it at this stage.
