My Department have over the years been in regular contact with the British authorities to try to resolve this longstanding problem. Earlier this year the British informed us that they were now in a position to discuss settlement of the claims.
I understand that the British have now made an offer of compensation to the legal representatives of the Kiltyclogher residents and that negotiations on a settlement of the claims have already begun.
