Vol. 344 No. 8

Written Answers. - Withdrawal of Medical Card.

648.

asked the Minister for Health the reason a medical card was withdrawn from a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

The determination of eligibility to hold a medical card is a matter for the chief executive officer of the health board and decisions are made in accordance with the guidelines set down for determining eligibility with due regard to the applicants medical expenses.

On the review of the applicants eligibility which was carried out earlier this year it was found that his income considerably exceeded the guidelines and consequently he was deemed ineligible for full services. Accordingly, his medical card was withdrawn.
