Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tubbercurry (Sligo) Garda Strength.

36.

asked the Minister for Justice if his Department will provide an all-night Garda presence in Tubbercurry, County Sligo, where a number of robberies occurred recently; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Limerick East): The precise arrangements made for the policing of particular areas are primarily a matter for the Garda authorities. They have informed me that they consider that the existing arrangements for the policing of Tubbercurry are adequate to meet the needs of the area and that the opening of the Garda station there on a 24-hour basis would not be warranted at present.

There are arrangements for the policing of the area from the district headquarters at Ballymote outside the hours when the local service is operational and the area is also covered by divisional task force and traffic corps patrols.
