Vol. 344 No. 9

Written Answers. - Robbery Statistics.

73.

asked the Minister for Justice the total known amounts of money taken in robberies from various financial and other institutions during the last ten years; (a) the number of robberies on which convictions followed; (b) the number on which there were no convictions; (c) the amount of money recovered during the ten-year period; (d) the number in which firearms were used; and (e) the number of firearms used in robberies and recovered by the Garda during the ten-year period.

Limerick East): The particular information sought has not been compiled by the Garda Síochána and could only be provided by the expenditure of a disproportionate amount of Garda time and effort. However, a considerable amount of statistical information relevant to the question is contained in the Annual Reports on Crime of the Commissioner, Garda Síochána, copies of which are available in the Library. The details that are included in the annual reports were expanded in 1976 and further expanded in 1977.
