Vol. 345 No. 2

Written Answers. - County Tipperary Telephone Exchange Staff.

192.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will guarantee that voluntary redundancy payments, amounting to six weeks for each year, will be offered to all telephonists when the telephone exchange in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary, goes automatic in 1984.

I can confirm that the terms of the agreement relating to the position of staff who are affected by the closure of manual telephone exchanges will be open to all the staff in question, unless in the meantime a new agreement on alternative arrangements is reached with the relevant unions.
