Vol. 345 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bog Development.

251.

Mr. Leonard

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy (a) the amount of money allocated in 1983 for bog development; and (b) the amount allocated for turf cutting equipment.

Bog development grants are payable under the private bog scheme administered by Bord na Móna towards the costs of providing access roads to bogs, drainage of the bogs and the purchase, lease or hire of turf development equipment. There is no specific allocation for any particular type of equipment.

One million pounds has been allocated for the private bog development scheme in 1983 and to date £822,048 grant aid has been approved of which £459,320 is for turf cutting machinery.
