Vol. 345 No. 5

Order of Business (Resumed).

Deputy Daly asked a question about fisheries.

I am not aware it was raised with the Whips, a Cheann Comhairle. I have no knowledge of it.

Perhaps the Taoiseach should be aware that the decision to discontinue the payment of export refunds——

(Interruptions.)

I appeal to the Members of the House not to be disorderly.

Could the Taoiseach indicate when the Bill to set up the Dublin Transport Authority will come before the House as the heads of that Bill went to the Attorney General a long time ago?

It is under consideration by the Government, I could not give a time-table or date at present.

Has it been returned from the Attorney General's office to the Department of Transport?

The matter is before the Government for consideration at present.

On the question of the £25 subsidy to Irish fishermen who had——

Deputy Gallagher, please.

(Interruptions.)

The Chair is ruling that out of order.

Is the Taoiseach refusing to answer?

Deputy Gallagher, will you please resume your seat when the Chair is standing.

The Taoiseach is not interested in the fishermen.

(Interruptions.)

I have ruled the Deputy out of order.

In view of the unsatisfactory nature of the Taoiseach's reply, could I give notice that it is my intention to raise this matter on the Adjournment?

That is the proper way to do it.

The Deputy should keep his snide remarks to himself.

I wish to raise on the Adjournment the imminent closure of the Westinghouse industry in Kells which was only opened three years ago——

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy.

On the Order of Business, I should like to ask the Taoiseach when we may expect the Estimates for 1984 to be placed before the House and to remind him that in the much spoken of document Programme for Government, it was promised that the Estimates would be brought forward each year in September. In case the Taoiseach is not aware, we are now well into October. With regard to the matter mentioned earlier about the statement by the Taoiseach, I have now been informed that the statement was delivered to my office at 9.30 this morning. I suppose we are both right. I was notified of it but I do not think that was adequate notice.

Deputy Seán Barrett said it was done last night.

(Dún Laoghaire): I did not say that.

The Estimates will be before the House during November. As I indicated earlier this year, it will not be possible this year to bring them forward as early as September. I believe I mentioned then that they would be introduced in November.

I should like to ask the Minister for Transport if he intends to make any statement on the decision by CIE to discontinue the road passenger service from Claremorris to Ballina on four days each week.

That does not arise on the Order of Business.

This is a very important matter as far as the town of Ballina is concerned.

With the permission of the Chair I should like to raise on the Adjournment the closure of the De La Rue printing works at Clonskeagh, Dublin.

I will communicate with the Deputy.

With the permission of the Chair I should like to raise on the Adjournment the matter of the OEI hotels.

I will communicate with the Deputy.
