Vol. 345 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

452.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the position regarding an application for a farm modernisation scheme grant by a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

As the work in question was not completed before the expiry of the applicant's period in the "Other High" category, he is entitled to the lower rate of grant only. The grant will be paid shortly.

453.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to have a farm building grant under the farm modernisation scheme paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

As approval had not issued in this case before the suspension of grant aid for farm buildings and fixed assets came into effect on 10 February 1983, the application cannot be processed further. The applicant has been notified accordingly.

454.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a grant under the dairy herd conversion scheme has not yet been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and when it will be paid.

The delay in this case has been for the purpose of enabling the applicant to produce identity cards for a number of animals missing from his herd and so to avoid a reduction in the size of his grant. If he indicates that he does not wish to pursue the matter of the missing animals, the reduced grant will be paid immediately.

455.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a land drainage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

Payment of the grant will be made shortly.

456.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason grants which are due under the beef incentive scheme have not been paid for 1981, 1982 and 1983 to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary, and when they will be paid.

As there is considerable movement of cows in and out of the herd of the person named, my Department are not fully satisfied that he is maintaining his cows for the purpose of breeding beef calves in accordance with the terms and conditions of the EEC Suckler Cow Premium Scheme. Further investigations are being carried out, and a final decision on the matter will be conveyed to the person named when they are completed.
