Vol. 345 No. 7

Written Answers. - Waterford RTC Facilities.

276.

asked the Minister for Education in view of the totally unsatisfactory conditions prevailing in Waterford Regional Technical College, where there is only capacity for 168 persons in the library, 200 places in the canteen, which on occasions is used for classes, where a barracks one-and-a-half miles from the campus is constantly used although no public transport is available, where there are 17 computer terminals, and no outdoor sports facilities for 2,000 pupils, if she will ensure that the college is extended to accommodate all pupils properly; and if she will make a statement on the matter.

While increasing numbers have put pressure on existing accommodation and facilities in Waterford Regional Technical College conditions there cannot reasonably be described as ‘terrible'. It is understood that the college authorities are currently preparing a submission to the Department on accommodation requirements. When this submission is received it will be considered by my Department.
