Vol. 345 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

266.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 who was involved in an accident in September 1980 and who has not worked since.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that there is a discrepancy between the amount of tax shown by the former employer as having been deducted in this case for the year 1980-81 and the figure supplied by the taxpayer. The inspector of taxes has written on a number of occasions to the employer and to the firm of accountants acting for the employer for clarification of the figures of pay and tax deducted for that year but there has been no response to date. A further attempt is now being made to obtain the required information.

It should be mentioned that, on the basis of the figures of pay and tax deducted, as supplied by the employer, no refund of tax arises for the relevant year.
