Payments in respect of calves born between 1 January 1983 and 15 June 1983 will, it is anticipated, commence in January 1984 after all calves born in that period have reached six months of age and become eligible for premium. Because of the large numbers involved, payments are expected to continue for up to three months thereafter. As regards payments in respect of calves born later in 1983, these are expected to be made in July 1984 and subsequent months.

A decision on whether or not the person named is eligible for 1982 EEC suckler cow premium will be made as soon as he submits income tax form p60 to enable my Department to determine whether he qualifies under the full-time farmer requirement of the scheme.
