asked the Minister for Education the level of capital expenditure made by her Department on school buildings in each of the following sectors: (1) primary, (2) secondary, (3) vocational, (4) community and (5) comprehensive in each of the years from 1967 to 1983.

The information requested by the Deputy is given in the form of a tabular statement which will be circulated with the Official Report.

Note:Since 1971-72 financial year capital funds for community and comprehensive schools have been provided from the same subhead. Accordingly it is not possible to extract readily a separate figure of expenditure in respect of each category. Prior to 1971-72 the expenditure relates entirely to comprehensive schools.
