asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a £1,000 new house grant was refused in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if the decision will be reviewed.

This application for a new house grant was rejected because the floor area of the house exceeds 125 sq. m. (1,346 sq. ft.) which is the maximum area allowable for grant purposes. This case could be reviewed if the applicant submits proposals to reduce the floor area.

This grant was paid on 19 September 1983.

274.

asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department received an application for a home improvement grant from a person (details supplied) in County Limerick.

Yes, but a grant cannot be paid in this case because, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme in question, a claim for payment of the grant was not received in my Department by 31 January 1980.
