Vol. 345 No. 11

Written Answers. - County Roscommon Water Supply Scheme.

279.

asked the Minister for the Environment the total grant approved for Mount Talbot-Four Roads regional water supply scheme, County Roscommon by his Department; when the scheme was approved; when it is expected to commence; and the number of houses and farms that will be supplied under the scheme.

On 9 November 1983 I approved of the proposal of Roscommon County Council to carry out this scheme by direct labour and I understand that work has now commenced. The scheme is intended to serve about 195 houses and 165 associated farms in the area. I have also approved the scheme for inclusion in the FEOGA (Western Package) and it will therefore qualify for a grant of 80 per cent of the cost from my Department's Vote. The balance of the 20 per cent of the cost will be met by way of a local loans fund loan which I am recommending for approval to the Office of Public Works.
