Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

316.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that a certificate of tax-free allowances for the year 1983-84 was issued to the taxpayer on 17 November 1983. Any tax over-deducted from the taxpayer's earnings in the current year will be refunded by the employer on operation of the certificate.

asked the Minister for Finance when a tax refund will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer submitted a claim to repayment of tax on the grounds of unemployment to the inspector of taxes on 7 October 1983. The inspector wrote to him for further details to enable the claim to be processed. The claim was re-submitted by the taxpayer on 4 November and a cheque in settlement was issued on 17 November.
