Vol. 346 No. 1

Written Answers. - Health Contributions Revenue.

333.

asked the Minister for Health the amount of revenue estimated and the amount it is expected to receive in 1983 by way (a) of the 1 per cent health contribution and (b) EEC funds.

Receipts from health contributions were estimated at £64 million at subhead O of the Health Estimate, 1983. It is difficult to predict at this stage what the actual receipts will be but they are likely to exceed substantially the estimate. The situation is currently being assessed.

Receipts under EEC regulations were estimated at £19 million in subhead O of the Health Estimate 1983. The actual amount to be recouped to my Department by the end of 1983 is the subject of correspondence with the United Kingdom Department of Health and Social Security. The situation will not be finalised until December 1983. It is estimated that actual receipts will substantially exceed the estimate.
