Mr. Coughlan

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will seek the provision of a subsidy in respect of soya bean imports from the USA, which is the main source of protein used in pig-breeding, as their price has become almost prohibitive.

No. Skimmed milk and skimmed milk powder which provide protein for pigs qualify for EC subsidies.
