Vol. 346 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dungarvan (Waterford) Ring Road.

310.

asked the Minister for the Environment when work on the Dungarvan Ring Road, County Waterford, which includes the provision of a bridge, will be completed.

I understand that the section of the ring road to the west of the Colligan river, that is, from the Youghal Road to Shannon Road, will be completed and open to traffic during the first half of 1984.

Causeways have been placed in the river estuary and site investigations are being carried out at present to determine their stability. A compulsory purchase order has been confirmed in respect of properties needed to facilitate construction of the section of the ring road to the east of the river.

I am not in a position to indicate when the bridge and the remainder of the ring road will be completed. This will depend mainly on the outcome of the site investigations on the causeways and the rate of progress by Waterford County Council in preparing detailed plans for the proposed new bridge and in acquiring properties on the eastern side of the river.
