Vol. 346 No. 3

Written Answers. - Dublin Housing Scheme Vandalism.

321.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware (a) of the delay in providing a boundary wall at the rear of the new housing scheme at Donard Drive, Dublin 7; (b) that the adjoining lands are the responsibility of the Office of Public Works; and (c) that the failure to provide the wall, despite repeated requests from the National Building Agency, has led to many houses being vandalised and broken into; and when the work will commence on the wall.

I am not so aware. I understand, however, that the Department of Posts and Telegraphs have provided a wall between their area engineering headquarters building and that portion of the scheme adjoining it. I further understand that, on the instructions of Dublin Corporation, the National Building Agency are providing, as part of the contract for the housing scheme, a four foot chain link fence between the remainder of the scheme and the adjoining open land held by the Department of Posts and Telegraphs for future development.
